The figure shows gene expression analysis of unsorted, CD49 sorted and CD19 sorted SCΞ²-cells using NanoString analysis.
Luo Ting Huang, Yaser Tahamtani, @nictitate.bsky.social & co explored the possibility of magnetic selection of insulin-expressing stem cellβderived Ξ²βcells using a CRISPR/Cas9 technology and transmembrane glycoprotein CD19 as a marker.

It's nice to know that the Canadian government can re-discover the value of higher education. Perhaps less nice to note that it perceives the value as that of a prop for a PM's visit to another country.

Biochem tricks are one thing... I've got mentors who were some of the earliest recombinant DNA psuhers but they remind me that there were never "good old days" just lots of logging counts and screening clones
Being fluent in your current assembly and expression system, now that takes time and years

Since this will likely come up in the SOTU: Yes, US stock markets are up since Trump took office (14%).
But in the rest of the world, markets are up WAY more. Cumulative market gains are more than triple ours (43%)

I often get this attitude on Vancouver Seawalls when I run in the bike lanes (usually I'm going faster than pedestrians and often some bikes). Often it's from individuals biking without a helmet (which is illegal here).

Brain cells drive endurance gains after exercise
JAX team helped show that a set of hypothalamus cells are required for mice to improve their endurance in running.
When you finish a run, your muscles may feel like they did all the work, but new research from JAX and the @upenn.edu have discovered that what happens in your brain after a run may determine whether you gain endurance over time. π§ͺπ§ https://go.jax.org/brain-exercise

AI is going to trash every single way that we had modernised university teaching and send us back to handwritten exams and vivas for every assessment. Which will bring back every problem with those assessment models (and make us seem even more out-of-touch even as we just try to do meaningful work).

B.C. was the only place in Canada that let people 55-65 not pay property taxes.
It was the only place where not paying them wasnβt means tested.
It was the only place where not paying them was balanced against loans *below* prime rate.
If thatβs your baseline, cancellation feels very mean.
