Most indie and community radio stations have disappointing mobile apps, but usually it's pretty obviously because they can't afford better.

The KCRW, KEXP, and WFMU apps are all sophisticated enough that functionality differences seem like design choices.

Let's say someone makes a polite post about how protecting rights of trans people is a purity test we all should avoid. And someone else replies and tell them to go fuck themselves. Which one of these would be considered toxic low-quality one?

And yes I am aware that feeds are algorithms. The difference is you have control over which feeds you subscribe to. Don't like a feed? Remove it, choose another. Suppressing posts in replies and search results is a completely different thing. Who decides if post is made in bad faith or good faith?

I'd like to decide for myself which replies I want to see and which to hide, and not some weighting algorithm decide this for me, thank you very much.

Man, fuck her. SNAP is a lifeline for so many people. In many states, it’s the closest thing to cash welfare remaining. And rates of waste, fraud, and abuse are consistently low. Cracking down more would increase churn and drive people off the program.

I didn't earlier mention SomaFM, because it isn't a broadcast station at all, strictly internet-only, but it's no less independent for that, and I've been listening in the past year or two to that as much as anything.
