Well that doesn't work out, Newbliss wasn't the name back that far. New goal to study what someone with Parkinson's and Appalachian accented English pronunciation of letters n and b, compare that to Irish and cross ref w Grenham RC Parish maps. Am I nuts?

I've had these notes as cell phone camera images of his research box of clippings in my computer for 10 or more years. 😖

He asked me at Christmas "where do we need to go to find the truth?" and I'm determined to find him a lead. I lost the time battle for my grandmother's family history question. Yes he's done DNA. Haven't tried a y DNA, that might be next.

I found Monaghan, but what could "Neblible" be? Newbliss?
For the last 10 years FIL has been about this person is from Killarney. We can get back to 1800s Virginia which points more to ScotsIrish, which Monaghan makes sense. Brick wall #genealogy made urgent, FIL also has Parkinson's. 2/3

Cleaning #genealogy digital files found handwritten notes from my FILs research noting his grandfather who raised him stating his GF was from "Neblible, County Monagou."
FILs GF was fm a holler in WV & had Parkinson's, this is likely a phonetic spelling. 1/3

Not sure if it's the escapism of books and movies working or something else but I've been profoundly moved by the following recently completed selections:
Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno -Garcia (audiobook)
Tom Lake by Ann Pachett (audiobook)
It's Never Over, Jeff Buckley (documentary)

Downsizing the parent's hoard continues. Today's goals were 6 totes of clothes, china cabinet, and craft supplies.
Got her to let go of 4 totes worth, some stuff from her high school days back in the 1960s. Found a folder of #genealogy emails I sent the family back in the early aughts.

In today's purge we received a 3 drawer end table/nightstand that smells like the rotting Centennial Court senior housing where great gram and great aunt lived. I pulled out the drawers looking for the elusive envelope of riches and found...a money order receipt to the local housing authority.

Not a sponsored post. I am the world's slowest knitter ™ or have an undiagnosed attention difficulty. It's almost winter games season again. Years ago (20?!) I did the knit a sweater during the games challenge using KP Wool of the Andes. I lived in San Diego at the time. Oh the naivete of youth!

Image of the Knit Picks catalog with a stack of 6 folded sweaters of different stitch patterns in a rainbow from a coral peach to lime green to an aqua blue.
If you're a new or experienced knitter the latest Knit Picks catalog is jam packed with tips, quizzes, product, 4 free patterns, and colorful layouts. When I have time to knit, most of my yarn comes from KP. I love their interchangeable circular needles with the Caspian birch tips, & they ship fast

Interesting... I would probably have to put some kind of support fabric behind them as they're all different weights. Thanks!

While I'm on here and thinking of it, ISO resources for #genealogy for Muhlenburg (sp?) county Kentucky USA 1820s-1850s, family from Virginia. I checked the usual suspects. Any ideas welcome.

A 6 grid image of embroidered dresser scarves made by my great gran USA 1940/50/60s. A house, a girl in a blue dress, a Mill with a water wheel, a flower basket, a water lily, and a bright border of flowers
Great Gran's embroidered dresser scarves. I have an entire tote of these things, what should I do with them? #FamilyHistory #embroidery #craftinamerica

2 things to note, she was not a big quilter, we have a couple other pieces for baby cribs with embroidered squares not piecing like this and she was a great fan of picking up what others left behind. Do I know she made this? No.

The parents downsized and everything extra has landed with me. #FamilyHistory This #quilt was in a box from my great grandmother with embroidered divan/dresser scarves. The backing is 2 chicken scratch feed bags. I've heard of flour sack quilts but not chicken feed. New England, USA, 1930s.

Over the holidays we visited the husband's side of the family. I took photos of pictures in albums. I shared one to my IG which my daughter then showed to the aunt she was staying with. Apparently Aunt's first time seeing this photo. This is the Scrabble triple score of genealogy.
