Metro says the Half Street entrance to the Navy Yard station is now back open - it’d been closed since fall. 5 escalators were replaced including the long ones often packed with fans before & after Nationals games. #wmata knew it was vital to get this done before baseball season.

I was told until some opposition arose in the last few days, it was expected to pass easily, so this was a way to get it passed faster. Obviously now all the supporters wish it had just been a simple majority vote.

NTSB Chair testifies on findings of midair collision investigation The committee is set to examine the systemic failures that led to the disaster, as revealed by the NTSB.

The NTSB Chair told a Senate Committee that a $400 device would have prevented last years midair collision over the Potomac River. She, senators, and family members of the victims called on the House to join the Senate in passing a bill requiring it. wjla.com/news/local/d...

NEW: Virginia State Police gave pics & info about a car crashing onto the Metro tracks near Dunn Loring today. Police believe the driver reached for his E-Z Pass & ran off the road. Snow/ice acted as a ramp that launched the car airborne. The driver is charged w/reckless driving.

BREAKING: Crews have lifted the car off the tracks. I'm awaiting word on how long it will take before train service can start in this area of the Orange Line again. Fairfax Co. Fire/Rescue says the driver crashed & was taken to the hospital, injuries not life-threatening. #wmata

Somehow a car wound up on the Metro tracks in the middle of I-66 just west of the Dunn Loring station. Orange Line trains are not operating between West Falls Church & Vienna. Metro says they’ll let us know when they have more information on how in the world this happened. #wmata

EVA Air has announced starting June 26 it will offer four round-trip direct flights a week between Dulles & Taipei in Taiwan. Currently there are no flights between the DC area & Taiwan without at least one layover.

Crystal City Metro station will shut down for 10 weekends starting this weekend, & Reagan National & Potomac Yard stations will shut down also for 3 of the weekends. #wmata & airport officials hosting a press conference about it right now. New entrance coming to Crystal City.

Northbound 14th St NW closed between L St & Thomas Circle after DC Water discovered an abandoned brick sewer line in danger of collapse. DC Water tells me it should’ve been filled with concrete when it was abandoned 50 years ago but wasn’t. Sidewalks & southbound lane still open.

Best answer is inconsistent. Some aren’t too bad, others are still buried under snow. The head of Montgomery County DOT says both are a priority for crews, especially near schools. Today they concentrated on the University Boulevard/Piney Branch/New Hampshire Ave area.

Crews are trying to take advantage of above freezing temperatures to better clear roads in our area. Here is a team working on University Boulevard right outside Blair High School in Silver Spring.

DMV officials are warning drivers to be extra careful as roads are still not back to normal, and many merge areas like the one at this exit from DCA onto Route 1 are still mostly covered in snow. If you go out into traffic too fast you could hit someone.

Trucks are hauling snow & ice cleared from city streets to this parking lot in Rock Creek Park. DDOT says they’ll likely run out of space here tomorrow, but RFK should have enough room to handle the rest of the cleanup, which is expected to take at least the rest of this week.ll

There is still a lot of work to do, but DC city leaders say they are making progress clearing streets. This is work along I St. NW not far from the White House.

Mayor Bowser is giving an update on snow/ice cleanup in DC. Her office says 295, 695, & 395 were cleared as of yesterday, now the focus is on major streets like 14th, North Capitol, H, Massachusetts Ave, Rhode Island Ave, Military Rd & Missouri Ave.

Now the Link is running between lanes of traffic on Martin Luther King Jr Way. It has transit signal priority, we are not having to stop at red lights.

Also I went the wrong way! Having never been here before I assumed downtown meant downtown Seattle & Federal Way was a neighborhood, but apparently it’s a separate place at the south end of the line! My fault, but it would help if they had north/south directions like #wmata is implementing.
