at the end of the day, i recognize this is still an algo feeding me what it thinks i’ll enjoy instead of me deep diving on my own like i did in my teenage years, but this is the closest i’ve felt to those adolescent days of scavenging the net for new music in very long time

ig is suddenly recommending me tons of independent artists (like half my feed is music ads, maybe more) and i’ve discovered like 3 great songs from bands i’ve never heard of this morning alone

this isn’t, like, something i read about or was advised to do, it just kinda happened organically and now i’m wondering if maybe i spend most of my waking hours tensed up/taking shallow breaths by default

without really thinking about it i’ve kind of just started taking a few very deep breaths at random times throughout my day and i’m actually surprised by how centering and soothing it is

having my childhood stuffed animal as a pfp is imbuing all my posts with a very specific energy that i can't exactly articulate but is palpable nonetheless

but now i know that even if there doesn't seem to be a path back to it yet, that doesn't mean one won't appear someday down the road.

the not knowing is scary (what was the solution? what if it happens again?) but it kind of gives me hope, too. i haven't written a poem since... well...... You Know......... and i had started to wonder if maybe my days of writing were behind me.

i don't know why or how such a large disconnect had grown between my mind, my artistic eye, and my motor skills/coordination. the closest thing i can liken it to is maybe the way athletes get The Yips. and i don't know how i overcame this either, it seems like one day the cloud finally passed.

for many years, i was blocked from accessing whatever part of myself allowed me to draw freely, without reservation or doubt. to the point that i believed i had lost the ability altogether. though i feel a sense of alignment now, i am still pretty lost as to how it all transpired in the first place.

originally posted this back in june then had turn my attention to other stuff for a while, but i've been drawing again this week and i'm actually still quite emotional over how it feels like a part of myself has returned to me.
