Any suggestions for moderately skilled (non-tech) Americans wanting to emigrate to Canada? We have cats, but no kids. Already border BC but seriously beginning to think its time to sell up and bail.
Non-Xtian/queer/mental health issues - yes, others have it worse but we are Undesirables too.
There were 30-40 people & two sweet doggos in line when the store opened. Staff are trying their hardest, most people are still civil. Only a few bitchy boomers/entitled jackasses who are taking the store closing as personal insult. Still heard a bunch of people swearing Never Hobby Lobby! 2/2

For anyone in the Tacoma area who's crafty, the going-out-of-business sale at the Tacoma Joanns has started. Most everything is 20-25% off, no coupons accepted, teacher/military discount is still valid. No more buy online/pick up in store.
Selection is still pretty okay. 1/2
I sincerely donβt know why people arenβt physically stopping those dorks. Move shit. Lock doors. Lose the keys. Everyone switch seats. Turn off all the lights. Switch the signs on the elevator lobby. Make the settings all silly. Use a different language. Wear costumes. Fill rooms with balloons

Me too...I specifically cooked and pressure canned chicken for my spoilt brats a year ago - way before this mess - and now I'm afraid to feed it to them. Stupid brain.

if you live in LA and are or might be evacuating:
take a cellphone video of you walking around your place, going over all of your belongings, it's admissible when trying to get insurance payouts for it
We're mostly OK this year, post-Yule/pre-Xmas. It's strange. There's the sense of impending doom, and we still desperately want to emigrate to Canada, but for the moment...we are kind of okay. Family aside, we're fairly chill for the moment.
I truly don't know how to handle it.
Donald Trump absolutely HATES the βPresident Muskβ meme with a passion.
Letβs keep spreading it.
please mask and wash your hands and test if you donβt feel well. so many people are getting sick and getting others sick. stay home if youβre sick. exposing countless workers to illness so you can get your holiday shopping done or whatever is gross.

I sold my finewool crosses (Rambouillet/Suffolk) at about that weight at about that price. Allowing for living in a much more expensive area now, I was expecting the ~$450 range including kill but not cut/wrap.
I don't eat much lamb these days.
This lady was trying to justify $11/lb for turkeys because they're "expensive to feed."
Yeah...no. Turkeys will THRIVE on bugs, grass, and scraps, not $90/bag no-corn/no-soy/non-gmo/custom-blended grain mixes that would be more suitable for show horses.
I refuse to buy into that madness.
This surprises me not at all.
26.11.2024 05:42 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0$11/lb for a turkey is literally giving me a headache right now. Also that was LIVE weight for that lamb - I'd have been a bit less gobsmacked at $8/lb hanging weight. Not much less, but a bit less.

I tried to buy a lamb a few years ago, they quoted me $8/lb live weight and couldn't even tell me what breed it was or if it was a spring lamb or young mutton. Again, just...no.
I want good meat and I'm willing to pay a premium but I'm not willing to be a sucker. Thoughts? π½οΈ
I want to know what breed it is, what it was finished on, and how long it was finished out - and I damn well better be able to get the cuts I want. I've got a great local farmer who I happily buy delicious pigs from, and I'm scared to recommend him because I want to be able to afford them.
26.11.2024 02:38 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I also have problems with people who add a bunch of buzzwords to bloat prices. ALL beef is grass-fed. Not all of it is grass FINISHED, which is something entirely different. I don't particularly like grass finished beef, but to each their own. If you're asking me to pay $2.5k for half a beef,

Moderately controversial #cooking thought - I grew up on a farm. We raised a LOT of our own meat (lambs, pigs, cattle) but never birds. I want farmers, especially small farmers, to be paid a fair price for their produce.
But $200+ for a 18lb turkey? Not even of any particular breed? No. Just, no.
I almost paid $13 for a 4oz jar of Marmite from the Big River Site...then I came to my senses and remembered there's a halfway decent British shop about 10 miles from me. Wish the British butcher shop hadn't closed though, I miss Cumberland sausages. #whatscooking π½οΈ

I just had to explain to a rando in a book group (not on this app) that a righteous angel is far more terrifying than your average demon.
Why does this sound familiar...
Strict binary thinkers give me a headache. Demon =/= bad, angel =/= good.
