I was thrilled to spot a Great Blue Heron all puffed up on a chilly morning in Central Park. We're fortunate that these beautiful birds pay us visits all winter! ❄️❄️❄️ #Herons #CentralPark #birding

At the counter of Russ & Daughters, sitting beside two ladies who seem to be sampling their first bagels & lox, nodding to each other and speaking in emphatic Chinese. New York is the greatest city in the world. Waves of immigration, assimilation and cross-cultural pollination make it so.

I pray that a future president if we still have a democracy will erase every trace of Trump's existence. Raze every edifice he's built; strip his name from everything, restore the White House as if he never lived there & turn Mar-a-Lago into a Black, LGBTQ, women's, AAPI & immigrant history museum.

This is why I think the next Democratic president needs to use the EXACT tools that SCOTUS has handed Trump. Don't leave room for any distinctions.

Impound funds for deportation. Give ICE the USAID treatment. Refuse to collect government-backed debt. Purge MAGA loyalists from the executive branch.

I visited the apartment building ICE raided on Tuesday today. Story to come, but you can walk right in. Half of the apartments have no doors on them. Children's stuff abandoned in some flats. *Citizen* residents told me they were arrested and held for hours in zipties. This is America

"They was terrified. The kids was crying. People was screaming. They looked very distraught. I was out there crying when I seen the little girl come around the corner, because they was bringing the kids down, too, had them zip tied to each other," Watson said. "That's all I kept asking. What is the morality? Where's the human? One of them literally laughed. He was standing right here. He said, 'f*** them kids.'"

Watson said trucks and military-style vans were used to separate parents from their children. Other neighbors said agents destroyed property to get in the building.

"They had a big, 15-inch chainsaw with round blade on it, cutting this fence down," said witness Darrell Ballard. "We're under siege. We're being invaded by our own military."

β€œFuck them kids.”

That’s literally what an ICE agent said when ICE, the FBI et al. raided an apartment in Chicago, including with a Blackhawk helicopter, separated children from their parents, and zip-tied them to each other.

The MSNBC commentator saying that most political violence has historically come from the left just once again showed how we suffer from failing to learn history. Lynching, pogroms, race riots, the political violence that ended Reconstruction, and against the Civil Rights Movement. Come on.

In the minds of most Americans, we’ve tended to mythologize the Warren Court as most representative of the Supreme Court, when in truth, for most of our history the Court has ruled against minority rights, upheld the power of wealthy white men, and rarely protected the most vulnerable.

When Tiffany Cross referred to WH adviser Stephen Miller as a β€œwhite supremacist,” apparently, people who don’t own dictionaries were outraged

Fortunately, we found someone who can clarify things
