Reform's candidate to become its Mayor, Laila Cunningham, told GB News this week that she backed what ICE are doing in the States, saying that the UK also needs a "strong border force, like ICE, to be a deterrent." This is a message backed by other even more senior figures too. New recruit Robert Jenrick has also long insisted that the UK must model its immigration plans on the tactics of ICE, telling the Daily Express last year that "frankly, we've been pussy-footing for too long as a country and that's got to end," "We've actually got to show some muscle and determination and fix this once and for all." His fellow new Reform MP Suella Braverman has also backed plans to end such "pussy-footing" on mass deportations, while accepting payments from the Heritage Foundation, which has been instrumental in the ICE project. Braverman, who led the failed Rwanda plan in Government, would no doubt gladly utilise a force such as ICE to implement a much more aggressive plan under Reform.

Reform represents an existential threat to our democracy and our national wellbeing. Their cynical power games and threats to “detect, detain and deport” immigrants might please their racist base but their fevered lust for aggression towards the vulnerable is genuinely ruinous for the country.
