Abolish the legal gender marker entirely. No government can be trusted to have a database of which people have changed theirs, no government has any business tracking what your gender is "supposed" to be in the first place.

And it’s especially important that universities took their part in all this seriously and made sure that STEM programs had solid humanities grounding layered throughout everything.

It’s also incredibly fortunate everyone in tech formed unions with strong ethical codes, and designers created a solid license framework to take seriously the responsibility they held in modern times with tech layered through all facets of life and power.

Slop can’t succeed unless there’s a market for it, and adding more slop won’t increase demand for it if you haven’t pre-weakened the norms of quality and expectation.

They’re really building slowly with the backstory I guess.

I’m not saying the X-Files caused this, just that between then and now the conceit of “conspiracy theory as fictional plot” became “conspiracy theory as real life political ideology”.

And a lot of folks in the circles of “are aliens real?” Turned out to be “dangerous anti-democracy podcast hosts”.

I’m incredible excited for this!

…but also, SO many of the original series plots ended up somehow becoming the basis for current right-wing political theory—from “the deep state” to “dangerous gender shifting people” to “vaccines are conspiracy laden dangers”.

Unsure how it’ll sit presently.
