Yes that does complicate things, very much so... In my view, nobody knows the best path forward but yourself. You can and should, of course, see if there are any resources (people or otherwise) that can help. I really do hope things work out.

I totally get the proclivity to be fatalistic, but in my experience there is little use dooming about it even if things seem fairly bleak. Obviously easier said than done though, I have gone through my fair share of pits during university despite receiving the same advice. Such is life I am afraid.
