Finished an Irish Hiking Scarf last night.
Louisiana Yarn Guys, in Game Day Purple.
This morning I cast on the next project.
I've been working on an Irish Hiking Scarf for a friend. She got the yarn at a farmers' market in far northern Vermont. It is of unknown origins, but it is probably Jacob or Romney, since it is so stiff and coarse. Dyed with vegetable dyes, one skein down, one to go!
03.09.2025 15:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Finished scarf. Noro Silk Garden. This one is for me, I bought the yarn in 2008, started it, and found it in my stash. Now it's done and waiting for winter.
14.08.2025 17:18 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The son of a friend is joining the Coast Guard next month. This is a wool cap he'll be able to wear. Mad Tosh, black superwash merino.

20.06.2025 13:37 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm having one of those "Do not cite the old magic to me, Witch. I was there when it was written" moments.

Mozart: Der HΓΆlle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen
My earworm right now keeps switching between a piece by Mozart and a piece by Bach. I say, "switching," because by humming one of them out loud I can keep the other at bay, but if I'm not humming then both are playing in my head simultaneously, which is very distracting.
04.06.2025 13:27 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Completed scarf for my niece.
Fiber Optic Yarns, colourway Agean Blue.
Superwash Merino wool.
Pattern is Irish Hiking Scarf, a free pattern. I've made this scarf dozens of times, but never for myself. I need to fix that.
I just blocked the account of someone I used to know, who was once a casual friend.

I can't even.
I can't odd, either.
I just don't want to see the apologetics about the bullshit coming out of Washington.
Yes, and?
14.05.2025 15:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That's gorgeous! I have a lot of yarn in my stash that is intended for double knitting. I just haven't gotten to it yet. (Counting the days til retirement!)
14.05.2025 15:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Finished a scarf. Feather and Fan, in Malabrigo Rios, Bobby Blue. Knit on US 7 / 4.5 mm needles. It's for a coworker.

13.05.2025 16:36 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I gave up the church out of boredom. La la la, like plainchant, dull as dishwater. I haven't considered myself a Catholic since I was 15.
08.05.2025 17:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0You kind of have to be Catholic to be Pope.
Technically, I could be Pope.
I'd be Pope Fiacre.
New hat!
Plymouth Yarn, 55% baby alpaca, 45% merino wool.
This is so amazingly soft, and I'm glad I've got more of this yarn, since I made it for a friend, I can still make one for myself.
Alum of the Divinity School. Proud of my alma mater.
17.04.2025 16:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I catalogued it a few years ago, though I've been lazy about updating it. I have a good idea what's in there, lots of Mad Tosh, Neighborhood Yarn, and Dirty Water Dyeworks. Among thousands of others. I will not knit it all before I die.
02.04.2025 15:26 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Part of my yarn stash. How an ADHD hyperfocus got a little out of control.
02.04.2025 15:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Finished the scarf this morning. Now I need to pack it up and ship it off to Illinois. A nice Merino wool scarf just in time for spring!
Bad Sheep Yarn; colourway Kennicot; Irish Hiking Scarf (free on Ravelry); Size US 7 / 4.5 mm needles.

Gods below! But I hate when this happens at knit-night!

12.03.2025 13:21 β π 22 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I bought this yarn ca 2008 at the Tent Sale at Webs in Northampton. It was made by an indie dyer, and it's been in my stash for 17 years. I just came across it a couple weeks ago and thought it would make a great scarf. But I have 536 yards, and think a shawl would be better.
12.03.2025 13:19 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I also keep kosher kitchen, even though I'm not Jewish. You don't have to explain or apologise for anything. And dear Helen Mirren says, Life would be a lot easier if we learned to tell people to fuck off a lot earlier.

Today is my first day back at work after almost two weeks. Last week we were on a cruise visiting Cozumel and Grand Cayman. Upon returning home on Saturday, I began to sneeze, and came down with the flu. Today was my first day back, and reentry was a bitch.
