I'm struggling with a lot of work stress that is sucking my will to create art. What do you to get past that? I could really use some pro-tips.

Interesting, I’ll try that. I generally throw all my water and everything back in reclaim, so in theory everything goes back in, but I’ll definitely try that. There was a non reclaim plate that warped too, just not as bad. A heavily grogged stoneware.

Possibly, I had stacked them vertically once before but on that one I had a larger pot in the middle and rested them all against that. I had also considered that my use of reclaim might have been a problem, but one of them wasn't reclaim. It was the least warped.

Good to know, that's what I always thought the problem was with plates, expansion issues causing them to crack. Thank you!

Oooooh, Silica Sand. This is something I have heard about but not really looked into too much. I'm going to have to look into that.

I really don't do many plates... or at least I haven't up until now. I never fired flat because of all the complaints I had seen from other potters about warping or cracking. Here I was thinking I was going to learn from their mistakes. -Womp Womp- I will check CAN, thank you! :)

The thing about the plates is they all went into the kiln looking good. I dried them REALLY carefully and, I thought, really evenly.

How many pounds of clay goes into a bowl like that? I have a bit more trouble with larger pieces... Either I have trouble centering larger amounts of clay, or I make the walls too thin and they keep collapsing.

Frustrating

You know how when you are mixing glazes, some of them have the same materials? If you're anything like me, you might be tempted to mix several glazes at the same time. I pre-labeled my bottles then poured the wrong glazes into them. This was supposed to be different. #clay #ceramics #art #pottery

Obsidian base, and drops of sapphire float, smokey merlot, and mayco light flux on the inside... if I recall correctly.

Thanks, it's a combination of Amaco River Birch and Industrial Minerals glazes on the outside. I did two just in case, both slightly different. The other uses Seaweed, but it came out more greenish-brown than I liked. This one is -chef's kiss- perfect!

Agreed, ancient copper is in my regular rotation. I think I’m adding gold as well :)

Me too! Copper is my favorite metal. I’m so glad Amaco brought Ancient Copper back!
