I do wonder if saying it's derivative is a bit of an unfair criticism because, like, if browt were to be a fire starter would I think it's derivative of torchic? Or if gecqua were grass would I think it's derivative of treeko? Idk it's just my first impression.

I wish I liked the grass and water starters more. I'll probably come around when I see their full evo lines but based off of the first stage they feel kind of derivative to me.
