things about #ai are going in a very bad direction, despite some usefulness here and there. i too have this dilemma of tech curious enthusiasm and corpo greed disgust.

one thing about whichever way you are connecting to #bluesky is that there are a lot of odd, sus accounts, probably bots. i had high hopes that there would be better guardrails against this, but apparently there aren't. #bluesky

So I've started using @pinksky.app on Android for that familiar #instagram feel on #Bluesky & #atproto.
Wish there was something like that for the #activitypub #fediverse aspect of #wafrn, but I am happy for now.
ps to @gabboman.at.app.wafrn.net the #oauth login did not work, only app password.

This whole #AWS fumble left me directly unaffected at the height (I was "offline"), but it still is a reminder to not rely too much on #BigTech, like #Amazon, #Microsoft, #Google. Especially #Europe based services, apps should move to #European infra, domestic even. They are good.

This is what I'm going to do on #Wafrn, using the use case specific apps made for #atproto, eg: @pinksky.app for #instagram experience, @skylight.social for #tiktok brainrot timespan experience.

Now, if you could have just one #activitypub account on any platform/instance you like, be that #mastodon, #pixelfed, #lemmy, #peertube, but you could sign in with a use case specific client to that account, using only #oauth. Eg you are still on Mastodon's main instance, but the UI&UX is Pixelfed.

It's in fact cool to see all the development going around #atproto/#bluesky, with the #instagram & #tiktok alternatives popping up, and only needing #oauth. Something similar is needed on #activitypub. The platforms are great, but you still need separate accounts and clients for specific use cases.
