We're in a national emergency, but we're not talking or acting as if we are.
This dangerous disconnect is why we convened the @nebriefing.bsky.social. Our goal was to reset the national conversation on the climate and nature crises, cutting through the sea of misinformation holding us back.

At todayโ€™s National Emergency Briefing, Chris Packham delivered a clear message: act now. Decision-makers must step up and tackle the climate crisis before itโ€™s too late. Add your signature to the open letter to Keir Starmer.

The Economic Impact of Brexit Other

Still reeling from the Stanford report on Brexit. Reduced GDP by up to 8% and investment by as much as 18%. The UK Treasury would have ยฃ40 billion more each year if Britain had remained in the EU. Devastating self-immolation.

As renewables eat into the energy market + EVs reduce demand for petrol, fossil fuel firms aim to step up production of plastics + chemicals made from oil + gas. By mid-century, half of growth in demand for oil is predicted to come from making more plastic + chemicals. A must read ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿพ

Thank you all who emailed their MP about protecting nature in the #PIB. We're disappointed that MPs didn't vote the way we hoped but weโ€™re not giving up. Debates continue and weโ€™re urging MPs to make the right decision for nature.

Whatโ€™s incredible though is that Toby Perkins MP, chair of the Environmental Audit Committee actually voted against Amendment 40 (prev.130) effectively going against the findings of his own committee. The whip is stronger than morals it seems. @georgemonbiot.bsky.social

This is exactly what weโ€™ve been saying for months and have the evidence to back it up. Unlike the government who have zero evidence or justification for their approach. They are basically destroying whatโ€™s left of our wildlife to line the pockets of the big housing companies.

Calm, clear and right! Loving the no nonsense answers and calling out the interviewer trying to laugh things off (which is frankly embarrassing).

Iโ€™ve just announced Iโ€™ll be leading a National Emergency Briefing on 27 November . At a time when climate is in free fall on the political agenda , itโ€™s vital our leaders realise what is at stake if we do not accelerate a just , green transition for all .
