Los Alamitos horse deaths: 6-year-old mare Friday, 8-year-old gelding Saturday Lady Derby collapsed and died after Friday’s seventh race. Give Me the Lute was euthanized the next day.

Isn't this an abnormal number of deaths of horses? Does anyone know what is going on here? 18 horses dying this year at this race track.

Listening to interesting convos re: human Eclipse Awards. Given there are no set criteria or ‘rules’ pertaining to definition of ‘trainer/jockey’ of the year, it’s to me, arrogant to assume any one method is ‘the right’ way. There may be some wrong ways, but no 1 right answer most of the time.

Currently working my way through "The Veteran" division of All-Value Sire Team: top sires with 5+ crops of racing age in 2025. Narrowed down to 14 sires.
