90. New Order - Bizarre Love Triangle (Factory) All the singles to top the NME Indie Charts since its launch in 1981, complete with an overview of the other music in the charts each week.

Blog update: New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle" topped the NME Indie Charts in November 1986, but was less fortunate in the official charts. Offcuts and remixes aside, it would be their least successful single for the next 29 years, even though it sounds like an absolute smash. What went wrong?

(I also looked up the person I dreamt about, assuming he'd died overnight. He's a very distinctive name and/so I think he's still alive and well and making music. Had he been dead, I'd take this clairvoyancy show on the road.)

Yesterday morning I was thinking of a very specific time in my life, having dreamt I was to testify in court (for? against?) about someone I went out with circa 1993/4. It got me thinking of when I read all the Anne Rice books, wondering why we never get them in the bookshop where I volunteer...

I saw your HAMNET review yesterday, and THE TESTAMENT OF ANN LEE is your friend, re childbirth.

Mine have started to be a little more prominent, but honestly I've been waiting a few years now for them to just hurry up already. I like to colour my hair for fun rather than coverage, so I'd really like the grey to just come so my hair can be stripey.

Meanwhile, I was out half the day and returned home to find I hadn't locked the door.
That's a new one even for me.
So the rogue pizza and estate agent leafleters could have just popped them inside on the table if they'd wanted to.

Interesting unplanned social experiment: I don't generally get junk mail but I received one piece about a month ago, so I put a note on the letterbox asking to please not to post any through. Since then I've received one or two a week. This feels indicative of the current state of the world.

Tomorrow night we have the debut of a play called 'Old Monsters: Bela and Boris' all about the relationship between Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff.

It is a script reading by regulars well-known to the bookshop.
