the only real way to combat this is single-interest communities. Forums, user comms, etc, with a barrier to entry. They become trustable knowledgebases. It's really the only way forward is to return to what worked best the first time

you’re not entitled to art/fic/seeing actors kiss. if you want something, you can make it yourself or support the incredibly talented creatives who already exist. refuse to give ai a platform in fandom, point blank

it really is that deep. we either accept it or we don’t. especially as it gets more sophisticated and is able to create images you like, fic you would enjoy. ai steals from real artists and writers (remember the ao3 datascraping?) and poisons the ecosystem for everyone

the response to ai in fan spaces needs to be to completely shut it out. refuse to engage with ai generated content, refuse to cede ground to it, and refuse to make exceptions when it’s something you really like. keeping fandom hostile to ai slop is more important than seeing your ship kiss

all ai in fandom spaces is bad but deepfakes are a special case where you can very easily get into legally dicey territory with vague/evolving laws (not to mention the ethics of using real people’s likenesses) just because you can’t be bothered to draw/photoshop/IMAGINE the thing you want to see
