Part of my 🌱garden renovation is to make it more wildlife friendly as well as productive for fruit & veg. I've been looking out for bargains so new additions include a Victoria plum, guelder roses and a clearance section crab apple. It's a small garden so growing fruit trees in pots. #GardensHour

Same here. I have them popping up in the front lawn. These in the back between apple trees start a bit later. Think I'll be dividing this clump, cleaning them up & finding new homes for some of it.

🌱Good Evening All at #GardensHour & late again - still at work. March has lots of flavors here in Chicagoland, but happy after an abrupt and bitter end to last week's warmth, temperatures are back on the upswing again. Some seedlings enjoying chilly but above freezing air today.🌞

Thank you all for welcoming March and the changing season to #GardensHour this week! Some of us are still feeling the effects of the cold waiting for spring, others well on the way, and others feeling temps cool slightly - however for most, change is afoot!

I finally made a start tidying up the garden a few weekends ago & left a lot of the stuff I'd chopped back around the garden. Last week I spotted a blackbird collecting some of the clippings for a nest that she's building in the yellow topiary euonymus! #GardensHour 🌱

Does it not depend on how many you can eat?! Although I do like benefiting from freebies when other people have a glut…. 🍅 #GardensHour

Veined new fresh green leaves with a round red ladybird with black spots sheltering underneath - the black underside of another ladybird can be seen on the other side of a leaf.

In 2024 the garden was strangely ladybirdless. Last summer they returned and if the past few days are anything to go by, there will hopefully be more this year #GardensHour 🌱

Started lots of veg and flower seeds in the glasshouse. Tidied the veg bed and got the first batch of carrots sown. Also move some rainbow chard to the veg bed. Lovely to be able to spend the afternoon outdoors.

As the light lingers and the warmth returns I've felt energised to spend more time in the garden. Started planting up new bed, prepared late last year and removed some very old hedging, to add in a new planting area to surround our morning coffee spot #GardensHour 🌱

Six Sunflower seedlings a few days old

Sowed my first seeds last weekend. Wasn't expecting 'life' for another week but Sunflower Baby Face decided to start early. I'm more excited that the Dwarf Munstead Lavender seed I collected in Autumn are also having a go, though less dramatically. I raised their parents from bought seed yrs ago 🤗
