Must historically have been of much much lower concern than in areas far away from the coast… A lot of the UK is on an island.
But with the decrease in dairy consumption and increase in vegan diets, nowadays it would seem like a no-brainer to increase the iodine baseline, yes!

I took a pledge back in 2011 at University and it's one of the things I'm proudest of.
Since then I've moved jobs, cities and even changed my name. I've kept effective giving a part of my life and now I'm even on GWWC's UK board!
There's one that's tagged “lesswrong“: bsky.app/profile/hmys... Technically not rationalist, but also not not. EA is definitely a clearer name!
(Hence my name being EA Paddington. Although Less-Wrong-Paddington has a nice ring to it!)
