I really hope the creators of King of The Hill as well as Amy Poehler, Adam Scott, and other names from Parks & Rec use their voices to honor Jonathan Joss and use their power to bring to light the horrendous hate crime that happened to him during Pride.

So often, Natives are forgotten.

In light of the grief hitting NDN Country's LGBTQIA+ and Two-Spirit communities with #Pride month JUST starting it makes what I'm about to shed light on even more infuriating because once again a lot of organizers and organizations are still treating Indigenous folks as afterthoughts.

Pride happens every year, organizing happens well in advance so there is absolutely no reason that I or any other Native should still be getting those “Hey, can you do a land acknowledgment?” messages….1-3 days before your event and with the expectation we "gift" our time and presence.

Intersectionality isn’t a suggestion, it’s a REQUIRED responsibility.

And if your event doesn’t intentionally, meaningfully include Indigenous Queer, Two-Spirit, Trans, and Disabled folks from the jump? That’s not Pride, liberation or even intersectionality, it's justice cosplay with rainbows.

And also ask yourself why you're asking Natives to do a land acknowledgment when we KNOW the lands we reside on. Land acKnowledgments aren't for us unless we're visiting or working on other tribal lands, THEY ARE FOR YOU TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE LAND AND PEOPLE WHOSE LANDS YOU ARE ON.

Let me make it real clear:
If you’re asking Native folks to do a land acknowledgment without including us in the planning, the leadership, or the stage, that’s not respect or inclusivity. It's lazy and performative.

Do Better.

You don’t get to build your Pride on stolen land while erasing and exploiting the people who belong to it.

not to mention that there are a LOT of gay, bi, trans, etc. men with mental health struggles. but according to the same people who are whining about men's mental health month we deserve to rot and die because we're sissy pathetic freaks and boys don't cry and blah blah blah. make up your mind!!

i think its really funny when people bring up that men's mental health month is in june and why arent we celebrating that. well, you could acknowledge it. nothing is stopping you. you just don't actually care about men's mental health and want a gotcha to "own" queer people lmao

No, they won't. Many trans people can no longer produce their own sex hormones and will develop significant and costly health problems, up to and including premature osteoporosis.

The rest will be tortured by the resurgence of the wrong hormones in their blood.

No, they can't. Some *may* be able to pay out-of-pocket for HRT, but regular blood work for transgender people will effectively become a thing of the past. Visiting their own doctors will also be out of the question, as said visits won't be covered.

"But they can still get coverage through private plans!"

No, they can't. Private, ACA-noncompliant plans almost never cover pre-existing conditions. That's usually what makes them ACA-noncompliant in the first fucking place.

If this spending bill passes the Senate and is signed into law in its current form, all but the most financially fortunate transgender people will be forcibly detransitioned regardless of their ability - or inability - to produce their own sex hormones.

This is a ten thousand-alarm fire.

not to mention how utterly shit the healthcare is. clinics are always full and there is a FIVE YEAR surgery backlog in my province. im actually going to off myself i cant live in this shithole anymore
