Kadonnut lapsi joutui rasistisen somevyöryn kohteeksi Rovaniemellä – asiaan puuttuivat poliisi ja kirkkoherra Lapin poliisilaitos julkaisi 13-vuotiaan tummaihoisen lapsen katoamisilmoituksen somessa, mutta joutui sulkemaan keskustelun rasististen kommenttien takia.

(Vain) tämän tekstin perusteella pohdin, kuinka hyvä on, että asiaan puututtiin, kuinka vähän poliisi (pystyy??) puuttuu tekijöiden toimintaan ja kuinka kirkkoherran tekstissä keskityttiin rasismin kokemiseen, mutta ei siihen, että tuomittaisiin joukossamme esiityvää järkyttävän rasistista käytöstä.

Storygraph made me a collage of the books I listened to last month. It may look pretty and charming but I would recommend checking out content warnings for the Ill-Mannered Ladies. Those books are quite dark.

A colourwork mitten on wooden surface. The palm side is up. Thumb is open ended tube crafted on the mitten. The thumb is too high on the mitten to be usable.

I machine knit a small swatch and a large swatch. The thumb placement was too high. And the mitten is too small. This shall be a lesson. I do not have it in me to undo the seam and rehang colourwork on the machine.

I modified a #taitopirkanmaa pattern for this

I knit a beanie. Machine knit the white part and hand knit the beige part. I sew the noses, ears/eyes and the 💩. Because dogs 💩 sometimes.

The gauge being the same with both techniques was a happy coincidence.

Wow!

Three twisted hanks of yarn on green grass. Two of the hanks are two-ply, one white and one purple-pink thread. The colour changes a lot in the yarn. The third hank is chain plied yarn using only the pink-purple thread.

My Tour de Fleece spins. One of the hanks is more tightly wound. They both have about 111 g in them (3.9 oz?), but one has ~15 meters more yarn. So quite even for me. The third hank is the excess pink thread, chain plied.

A hank of handspun yarn held in hand over grassy ground. The yarn is two ply. One thread changes colour from pink to purple and white many times with no pattern. The second thread is white. Over all the colour is airy.

#tourdefleece first half of the spun yarn plied. This is corriedale.

One tread is spun from handdyed tops and the other is white.

I like how airy the end result is.

The drive band of my spinning wheel snapped. 2 days of #tourdefleece to go. Luckily I had purchased a spare one, when I bought extra whorls for the wheel. I bought the wheel used and thought this might happen eventually.

I took this as an opportunity to clean my wheel as well.
And on we spin 🧶

Yep, I have to find if I have spare one.

I found reason for the wheel acting up. The drive band snapped.

I feel for you ❤️ For some reason my spinning wheel's tension has been bit temperamental and at times the bobbin looks like a hedgehog and I have to unravel.
