Book 9 - Frontier by Grace Curtis. This was like a series of video game side quests building to a climate change related sci-fi plotline in the final section, and a central queer relationship that felt very tell don't show. Wanted to love, ended up distinctly whelmed.

I've used red onions rather than her stipulated "regular onions" (which I guess means white ones?) and I'm using this green chilli sauce in lieu of fresh red chillis.

Had the day off work today and spent the morning at a coffee shop plotting an outline for a novel I've had percolating around my brain for a year or so. If nothing else, it felt nice to flex some creative muscles I haven't used for a little while.

Watching the performance back is so funny because you can visibly see the top of Björk's head bobbing behind Rosalía and the choir when she's singing at the beginning.

Finally caught the final episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and what an utter fucking delight this show has been. I loved the Dunk and Egg novellas but this elevated the source material in a way that screen adaptations rarely do. Masterful.

Happy-Go-Lucky by David Sedaris

Book 8 - listened to Happy-Go-Lucky by David Sedaris on audiobook. So many great funny moments but also some darker content about Covid and the death of his father which made it a bit heavier than other Sedaris stuff I've read before.

Book 7 of 2026 - Biography of X. Queer literary fiction about the widow of an artist digging into her wife's past after her death, but it's also an alternate history of the USA where part of the south formed a theocratic dictatorship after WW2. Inventive and gripping but maybe a little long.

Touch of sugar syrup to taste
