I’ve been off work for a week already and while I could say all I’ve managed to do is get down a mere 1k words and only do some laundry, I also finished a book and 2 Guardian dungeons in Breath of the Wild. I’m going to be gentle with myself today.

The most messed-up part about being severely behind on sleep this week, is that even though I’m off tonight unexpectedly, I still might not be able to fall asleep when I lay down.

One of the things I look forward to the most once, my book is ready for print, is shopping for a cover creator. I can't wait to find an artist who's style mirrors my own image.

In the spirit not meeting a word count, but instead making words count! Listened to the recent Write It Scared podcast & I definitely feel more productive because of it. I think my brain has finally convinced my heart that even 1 sentence is ok, as long as I write everyday! #amwriting #writersofbsky

I love that for you! I too found myself back into it in earnest last summer, but I was a wishful writer as a child and wrote gobs of (terrible, angsty) poetry as a teen. Never too late’

I really, really like descriptive prose, both as a reader and writer. But I do believe there is a fine line between that and leaving the “show, don’t tell” territory.

My spidey senses told me this was the one 😂

It's been somewhat slow going because of learning as I go - so many webinars, so little time! But I'm learning to trust my brain and the process!

"Then" and "now", I've noticed. I reread what I wrote once and was like "wow, that's unnecessary" ✂️

Thank you! My manuscript is an adult fantasy set in a mythical land inspired by Japan; so far, I'm leaning towards action and morality with a romance subplot.

I read a YA recently that was set in current times with modern language, and the author went back and forth between making her sound casual and formal in the same convo, annoying. We must make dialogue believable.

Oooh. Definitely not there yet, haha.

It'll be interesting who I/people will compare my writing to in the future though.
