In March 2003, I was a scared university student, sitting with my friends in the cafeteria and wondering what going to war would mean. Now almost a quarter-century later, I am deeply depressed that we haven’t done any better, and in fact, we’ve done so much worse.

And communities can’t afford the energy increases fueled by data centers. It’s unsustainable for both small businesses and households.

Exact same thing happening in the OH state university system, too. One of my questions is: who is going to teach all the undergrad gen-ed courses when they eliminate all the grad programs in the humanities/arts?

Ditto strawberries. Big pale ones from the grocery store taste like disappointment. Fresh, ripe, local ones are to die for (to me, at least!).

There were a couple of trans people in my church growing up. A lot of the old-timers didn’t seem to get it, but they weren’t hostile, either. Just kind of shrugged like “all God’s creatures.” It is a deeply normal place in my experience.

Source: I attended a PC(USA) church every single Sunday for the first 18 years of my life, was duly confirmed, and am made to go back periodically with my mother. 😇

💯 The PC(USA) is not a UU church, but it’s also not hardcore right-wing evangelical. Depends on the congregation, but an LGBTQ+ person would probably feel at least not unwelcome in a PC(USA) service. They do not even believe in the rapture.

I feel like it can’t just be the humanities and arts professors who understand that learning involves struggle and nuance, right? The only reason I am able to succinctly explain something complex to a class is because I grappled with the material first.

Exactly! I actually watched the medal ceremony right afterward so that I could remember what it felt like to have pride in my country.

I hate to be doomer-y, but this is right. The fact that our systems have not been able to self-correct is a huge red flag to the rest of the world, and we are going to need to undergo serious reform to regain trust.

We’ve made this several times, and it is excellent! A good one if you’re having company and need a nice tea or coffee cake. And it’s not much work!

😭😭😭 = me looking at the cool classes people got to take while meanwhile I was a music ed major with no room for any electives that actually sounded interesting. They forced us into the gen ed classes they thought were “best for education majors.” 🙄

I really liked my final quarter of theory. The class was super small, and the whole thing was taught through composition projects that we then all read through for each other.

Media need to hound the administration on why this is necessary, not because they will have good answers, but precisely because they will have bs answers that normal people will see right through.

This is an elected member of Congress & the GOP saying that he welcomes a war against another nuclear power who is literally our oldest ally & with whom we have a formal treaty military alliance.
