It was so chill! Though pokey did knock me over and drag me down the first worst one, but thats par for the course. I wanted to take a video, but I was hyper vigilant all race with my hands so I fear my documentation is very thin this year. Ill have a bit to share but not a ton.

Spot on, i turned around just before it based on their warning!

The entire day, i kept marveling that i skied up every. damn. hill. In this section in 2024. After revisiting it, I have even less of a clue how I did it. Fellow skier Scott Parsinaeau and I were chatting after both scratching today and he told me he kept thinking of my 2024 write up on this leg 😂😂

It…be…hecking…WIMDY. The strongest winds ive ever been out in. What was a half-day trek in 2024 was a full exertion this year!!

This “camp spot” is shell lake lodge, a seasonal resort in the process of being rebuilt. They have guest ‘dry cabins’ with woodstoves and bunks, free for ITI athlete use. A great spot to rest up and dry out if you dont mind being in a 10x10’ cabin with 10 other stinky athletes 😂

I was carrying my own inreach. There is no SOS or rescue included with the race. You are your only option!

Hard agree: I dont want to have to put cadaver skin on my frostbite, or BE that cadaver skin for my friends.

Aww, yay! But this is not the video circulating all over my timeline, which includes different audio and zooms in on the dog. That version is depressing how many people are falling for it. The fact that at least some version is real mildly restores my faith in humanity 😂

The story is true, but that video of it is pretty obviously AI. The video is in none of the news reports. Disappointing so many people are falling for it.
