In Nottinghamshire they are effectively paused as the wait time is spiralling out of control. I would imagine it’s the same right across the country…

Of course specifics matter etc But I think this talk of spontaneous communication is overblown. When working remotely you just need to be a bit more deliberate and pro-active about it. It’s partly about relearning how to operate in a remote team.

You also get more choice from both sides. If it’s a skilled job why would you limit yourself to your local talent pool? Equally as a job seeker I can find something that better matches my skills and motivations than the two jobs that happen to by in my local town.

Offices don’t come cheap either. But if your staff are less productive at home I would argue that’s likely a management issue not a location issue.

The tyranny of the extroverts who talk for a living. Not sure how being more tired and poorer and in a noisy environment full of interruptions is going to help concentrate on my work. But I’m sure RTO is the best way to attract talent and make work accessible to those with health issues…

It was sold on the idea that graduates enjoy higher earnings so they should pay towards their education (a dubious argument at best) but since pay gap has shrunk and the cost have increased. Higher Education is due an overhaul.

Why has the tech world collectively decided that the year ends in mid December? I'm inundated with "years in review", none of which are interesting and all of which are two weeks early.

Even if you do manage to find an open branch, the likelihood is that they will tell you that you can only do what you want to do online.

No one should be allowed on a train without a breath test and sufficient reading material for their journey.

I can’t think of any meaningful reason to migrate, seems to me you are just throwing your existing migration and expertise down the toilet. I mean after all C# is basically MS’s improved version of Java 😅

I wouldn’t have a problem switching to Java if there was some point to it. But a migration to a pet technology for the sake of it suggests a lack of judgement, not to mention the hell that is your average migration project… 😬
