I just like how Twitch closes the distance with live chatting and Discord is so versatile: like a forum people post at their leisure but you can also live chat if people are online at the time.

Interesting! Discord is the main way I engage with people online, more than I do even Twitch. I mainly join friends' servers, servers of streamers I like and gaming servers (like modding for specific games and stuff). If I had to give up all but one social media, I would no doubt choose Discord.

I very much feel you on all that. I got really lucky and met my bf online. He's American and I'm French but he was willing to come live here. Same with my best friends. We met online and decided to meet irl which we've done 6 times since 2022. I think streaming was what made it all possible for me.
