I've been coming back to look at this piece every few days now for the last however long, and it never ceases to blow me away. Lovely work~

It has always been everybody's responsibility to shun and spit in the face of everyone who made big posts or dm'ed people with "concerns" over media and problematic kinks but we have been too cowardly to stand up for people in our communities and we will continue to pay for it dearly

(context: What Right Have I is a very observant Jew from a place where everyone is human, even if they choose to look like an anthro, now displaced into a setting full of actual anthros/sapient non-anthros)

((Additional context: I'm a vegan anyway and not nearly so observant besides :P))

Today's halakhic debate on a furry role-playing site: is it maarit ayin to eat beef from non-sapient cows in a world with sapient bovines? Is it the role of the mashgiach to ensure the non-sapient status of all prepared animals?

We all just sit there like a bunch of fucking idiots and it’ll be the most impactful thing to happen to us for months to come. “You don’t really think of it, but fifteen weeks is a long time. More than a quarter of a year! And here we are, spending months thinking about sitting, silent, in a room for an hour or more. This is why I say idiots. You put it into perspective, and it seems so stupid.”

Furry writers, we have it lucky with our cons. Even if we may at times feel second-class to visual artists and musicians, at least we aren't steerage.

We were failed from top to bottom and front to back. I don't think Artisans will do this again (and neither will any of the authors), and the worst part is, Geek Fest will probably not even notice, and certainly will not care even if they do.

Artisans, who organized the local authors event, was counting on this to help turn the year around, but said that it may well be a detriment, never mind a write-off. They were placed BEHIND the top row of seats in an indoor stadium with zero signage leading to them.

I've had sufficient space from this to provide some thoughts on what happened.

I spoke with two people and sold zero books. I was scheduled to give a panel and zero people showed up.

For context, the con had 8-10k attendees. It was humiliating.

When you search them it's ENTIRELY people posting about being baffled why this account has followed them, so I'm gonna go ahead and block on the assumption they're trying to engagement farm.

Honestly, if you want to support me financially by purchasing my writing, ebooks direct from me are your best bet. I love having my writing in physical media, don't get me wrong, but they're almost not worth it, but for how many people prefer them.

I operate at a loss, in the end, when you include physical media. If I tried to sell books at anything other than basically breaking even, they'd be too expensive for the vast majority of buyers, and I'm not NEARLY a popular enough writer to expect otherwise :P
