Here's something which could claim to be in bucket 2: www-cs-faculty.stanford.edu/~knuth/paper... - Donald Knuth reporting on a conjecture of his that someone used Claude to solve - by generating code that seems to work for a given graph rank & then a human proves that type of cycle works in general

How democratic is the UK? The UK has a crisis of democracy

UK democracy in action

The state unable/unwilling to provide people with clean water, timely healthcare, social care, decent housing, pension, affordable education, energy, decent roads.

Corporate profits guaranteed through PFI, privatisations, outsourcing, subsidies, regulatory inaction.

I think it's fair for you to point out that the Tories would never have enacted those (although I don't think for 1 sec we'll get votes at 16). But this is very thin soup - given the size of the Lab majority a great deal more could've been done to improve things & there seems to be a crisis of will

Sarah Elisabeth Goode (1855 – April 8, 1905) was an American entrepreneur and inventor. She was one of the first known African American women to receive a United States patent, which she received in 1885 for her folding cabinet bed. #CelebratingWomen

Destroying trans people's rights and safety; feeding UK creative industries (one of British industry's actual crown jewels) into the woodchipper for pennies from Silicon Valley; regressive attacks on the right to protest; an approach to migration that tries to out-Reform Reform.

So this post broke containment and lost a little of the context when it did but Bikini Kill are the ones donating to TCP, not Bandcamp. We generally choose a different org or mutual aid fund to support on Bandcamp Fridays and this is what we chose this month.

Another day, another strawman bad take from someone who probably hasn't written any #Java in over 10 years. Half of these takes are straightforward ignorance, and half are just plain ol' bad faith.

Not great on the wording "fair & managed". Phrasing that speaks to respect for human rights & dignity, an independent, non-political process would be much better - the difference in approach needs to be made clear.

Anti-Trans Democrats Blown Out In North Carolina Primary Election Anti-trans Democrat Nasif Majeed lost to Veleria Levy, who ran on a pro-LGBTQ+ platform. Other conservative Democrats lost as well on primary day.

1. In yesterday's primary elections, anti-transgender Democrats found out the hard way why you don't throw transgender people under the bus.

Two anti-trans dems lost their primaries, including one that cast the deciding veto override vote, in blowouts.

I was born in an Iranian prison. My parents were held in their jails. My uncles lie in their mass graves.
Nothing you can tell me about the crimes of the Iranian regime that I haven't lived in blood and bone.
That doesn't mean I want my people bombed, maimed, killed, their homes in ruins.
If your vision of liberation comes only through the destruction of innocent lives, then it's not freedom you're after.

I am pro Iranian people. I stand with them against their own government’s repression AND against the imperial violence in the form of bombs dropped from the sky from Israel & the US who have already killed hundreds.

I support neither imperialism or dictatorship.

Sahar Delijani said it best:

The Girl Guides did a survey of their members last year. The results were shocking - over 2/3 reported that they self-censored in public to avoid attracting unwanted attention from men & boys.

Absolute fucking crickets from the transphobes. They're just authoritarians who want to police women.

The badge of the London Necropolis and National Mausoleum Company. Surrounded by an ouroboros, a skull and crossbones sits above an hourglass and the motto "Mortus quies vivis salus". I washed out of Latin shortly after discovering Caecilius was in the fucking horto, but think it's loosely "peace for the dead, safety for the living".

The whole design looks like it was outsourced to a 13yo metal fan, tbh.

There just isn't a lot of substance to conservative views at the end of the day? It's an unshakeable belief in hierarchy and authority. You can only dress it up so many ways.

🚨 It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work.

This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public.

Please spread the word.

The migrant workers/slaves who built the city is geopolitics. The dirty money, the sanctions evasion, the uneasy relationships with neighbours, the war UAE funds in Sudan... Anyone living there is exposed to geopolitics. Just now they can't pretend otherwise.
