Duria Antiquior โ A more Ancient Dorset 1830. The first pictorial representation of a scene of prehistoric life based on fossil evidence, aka paleoart. Depicts a multitude of aquatic creatures. By geologist Henry De la Beche based on fossils found by Mary Anning. De la Beche sold prints of this watercolour to friends and colleagues and donated the proceeds to Anning, who was impoverished for being a woman and a scientist.
