The most important thing for this tool was that it was correct, above all else. The companies involved patched the routing software as soon as a problem was detected, and they probably still do.

So I ask if being correct is so important why is it being cast aside so recklessly in other areas.

Remember when the first huge AI/machine learning algorithms entered public life? Turn by turn based GPS instructions. It’s an amazing technology and radically changed how people get around. The problem, mistakes can be deadly. No one wants to be GPS directed off a cliff or into a lake.

I’m not an expert in machine learning, AI, public policy, or GPS, but I have a pretty good memory.

So no one told you how to use your computer that way.
