Well, look at this: When you push, it happens. Three North Carolina house reps have introduced a bill to fund/improve and modernize the NWS. I pushed for this in DC. @RepDeborahRoss said she would try to work with NC representatives on finding a bill. I hope this bill advances.

I will always advocate for the industry I care about so deeply and for the people who rely on accurate forecasting to stay safe. Here’s more of my message.

This situation has deeply impacted me, both personally and professionally, as many of my friends and colleagues have lost their jobs. While I have no interest in politics, I do believe in standing up for the weather community and the vital work we do.

The vast majority of the lawmakers I spoke to didn’t know cuts were happening at NOAA/NWS as they were told it wasn’t going to happen. I just kept advocating and fighting.

It’s been hard to come up with words regarding the situation at NWS/NOAA the last few days. Roughly 1k meteorologists have been fired, and this will have profound impacts. I just got back from two days in DC fighting for NOAA/NWS. I met with over 12 lawmakers. I am very mad.
