As an American who graduated from a South African university, I am floored by how the South African academic system renumerates research through publication. Very cool setup I hadn't been exposed to before.

Take an intentional week off and don't touch it. Seriously. If you were prepping for a big race, and you pulled a hamstring, your coach would encourage you to rest it.
