Wouldn't it be nice if senators who aren't running for re-election (Ernst) did some good at the end of her term?

Dare we hope this means a governor Sand in Iowa next year? And maybe getting MMM and Hinson out of congress?

Important context includes "Iowa's governor hates Des Moines" and also "There's a Des Moines school board member running for Senate."

Higher Ed Has a Bigger Problem Than Trump
Universities should see the president’s interventions as a wake-up call, not the root of their troubles.

Universities can begin to assuage this skepticism by committing to addressing America’s biggest problems, starting with polarization. American colleges must become a venue for the frank but charitable exchange of ideas. College is not simply a debating society, yet many schools risk stifling dialogue, even if unintentionally. A recent study of University of Michigan and Northwestern University students by the psychology researchers Kevin Waldman and Forest Romm found that 72 percent reported self-censoring their political beliefs. Perhaps more troubling, 82 percent had turned in work that misrepresented their beliefs β€œto align with a professor’s expectations.” Such pervasive self-censorship not only undercuts universities’ academic missionβ€”it also validates the widespread suspicion that campuses replicate bias instead of challenging it.

Nate Sage, Zach Wahls, or JD Scholten would make better senators. Ernst hasn't brought anything of value to Congress or to Iowa.

Beloit, WI revitalized its waterfront and chose this way to celebrate it: by bringing to life Georges Seurat's "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte."
