71.5% of ICE detainees have no criminal convictions, according to government data.
Don’t fall for Trump’s lies about targeting the “worst of the worst.”
As Trump's regime terrorizes communities to fill up detention centers, remember that some of his biggest donors are private prison corporations.

Contact the Governor | Governor of California
You can contact the Governor a few different ways. The best way is through his online form.
Reminder that @governor.ca.gov is reportedly considering vetoing SB79, the best housing bill to clear the CA legislature in decades.
It would be a *disaster*, substantively & for Newsom's political future. Really hope he doesn't self-immolate.
Tell him!

This fact sheet from @americasvoice.bsky.social underscores how this administration’s mass deportation obsession harms public safety - including diverting money and staff time away from disaster preparedness and active federal investigations and toward terrorizing our communities.

Many American Jews sharply critical of Israel on Gaza, Post poll finds
Most Jews say Israel is committing war crimes — and 39 percent say genocide — while often distinguishing between the country and its leadership.
Most American Jews are antisemitic, according to right wing gentiles who are constantly employing anti semitic dogwhistles www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

A Raw New Deal
The administration’s proposed compact would seek to remake higher education in its own image
The Trump administration compact with higher education turns a manifesto of conservative grievances into policy, sprinkled with cost-cutting measures, and violates the very principles it claims to protect. I wrote about it here. It's free: adamhsays.substack.com/p/a-raw-new-...

“I don’t think the Democrats want to shut down either,” Rep. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho), a senior appropriator, told Bloomberg Government. “Their concern right now, and it’s a legitimate concern, is that, how can we agree to any deal when our OMB director will just impound the funds and say we’re not going to spend them there?”
“If you’re a Democrat — even just like a mainstream Democrat — your predisposition might be to help negotiate with Republicans on a funding mechanism,” said Rep. Steve Womack, a senior GOP appropriator. “Why would you do that if you know that whatever you negotiate is going to be subject to the knife pulled out by Russ Vought?”
Two senior Republican appropriators agree it doesn't make any sense for Democrats to agree to a government funding deal unless Trump actually adheres to the deal.
The Democratic alternative CR had language that would address this, but the White House came out strongly against.

Recently I learned that civil servants have the First Amendment-protected right to speak out on matters of public concern.
Thurgood Marshall, in an 8-1 SCOTUS decision, noted that government employees know how the gov’t works, and the public has a special interest in hearing from them.

Think of this as equivalent to removing the merit system from government employment.
Your tax dollars deployed to serve the goals of a personalist authoritarian system. All the talk about banning DEI because of merit shown to be nonsense when they also remove merit-based processes.
