We're in England and rented a BYD (Chinese) SUV. Among the many options is a HUD, which projects my speed, the (maybe) speed limit, and sideways proximity warnings into my line of sight.
But the display is polarized. And I wear sunglasses when driving: no HUD. Don't they think these things through?

It comes down to the ridiculous name for the country. After all Czechia realized "The Czech Republic" isn't a name.
Why name a country after a political event from the 18th century? Asking on behalf of my native The United Kingdom.

Well, in the UK 9th in line (skipping Andrew) would be Queen Sienna, so there's that.
(To MI5; this is hypothetical and in no way represents a threat)

"Fairground" means "It was took on the pier at Felixstowe". I used to have a deep fascination with Albert Herring.

And anyway the Dow dropped below 50,000 the day after Pammy's yell, closed at 48,978 on Friday after dropping over 500 on the Core PPI news, and God knows what will happen tomorrow.
Has anyone told Pammy?

Britten's use of wind quintet, with the addition of harp and percussion, would become "his" sound. From the fairground music in Albert Herring to "Let us sleep now" he made it so flexible.

Many of us had never performed it, some had never heard it, but we eventually filled King's College Chapel with it.
Later that year was the Berlioz Requiem in Ely Cathedral. My, we shook those old stones. 2/

I clicked and was (after the ad) transported to 1968, Cambridge University Music Society, first rehearsal... Willcocks strides in, silences the pianist, says "Begin!". Those students with perfect pitch started a B minor chord, the rest of us picked it up, and "Ky..." swelled to a fortissimo. 1/

A plate of braised liver with onions, bacon, and mashed potatoes.
As it happens, we are in England and just took a cousin out for lunch. She chose calf's liver. No, those are onions on top. It was a typical country pub menu, with for example squid in a lemon and chili sauce and smoked duck salad on the specials menu.

Not defending Kennedy, but those of us who grew up in postwar Britain, even not particularly impoverished, feel your pain.
Anyway Brussels sprouts have greatly improved (and are best eaten within 24 hours of being picked), and nothing wrong with a nice braised kidney as part of breakfast.
