The Mountain: seems to be portrayed not as a development in the G'z life, but rather a film made about their ascension. Themes about life/death abound as a young Noodle grows into adulthood with the G'z at her side, and they climb the mountain leading to a peaceful respite in the afterlife.

Song Machine: Noodle creates a song machine that also acts as a portal to other parts of the world, and wants to use it to see the world before it all falls to hell. Murdoc, despite returning from jail, is still on the outs with the rest of the band. That is until, during the video "the lost chord"

(Yes, really) and they create an album that celebrates their freedom from Murdoc for a while.

Humanz: The G'z downtime lasts a period of 11 years, during which Murdoc gets imprisoned in a mexican jail. Part of his negotiation with the feds was to promise to release a new album. He gets to work on it but quickly gets incarcerated again. He gets replaced on Bass by Ace of the Gangreen Gang.

Plastic Beach: Believing the band to be done Murdoc commissions the creation of what he hopes to be the most twee-pop album ever made. He moves from Kong Studios to Plastic Beach, a carribean island made entirely of garbage thrown into the ocean. He abducts 2-D, and holds him in a cell adjacent to a

-And spends an undisclosed amount of time doing so in Ike Turner's basement. Two things are revealed about Noodle: one is that she was a sleeper agent POW from japan given to the G'z as a means of protecting her, and two, she was dragged to hell by Pazuzu.

Demon Days: The band becomes world famous, but at a cost: turns out Murdoc contracted their souls to the demon lord Pazuzu for the fame. 2-D is soma-tized in the video for "Feel Good Inc.," and Noodle supposedly dies in the video for "El Manana." Russel goes on a spirit journey to rid himself of Del

Finally, in search of a lead guitarist, they at first hire 2-Ds girlfriend but that ends as soon as Murdoc sleeps with her and Russel punches him out for it. Then a mysterious fed-ex package arrives for them, and it contains a mysterious 10 year old girl who calls herself "Noodle."

In another part of town a young man named Russel Hobbs is escaping California gang life, possessed with the spirit of a fellow gang member named Del (The funky homosapien, first guest rapper they had), Murdoc pleads Russel to be his drummer but he refuses, so Murdoc simply holds him hostage instead

Gorillaz (Self-titled): Murdoc maims a boy named Stuart Pot in a hit-and-run, and is sentenced to take care of him, which he does badly. After getting in a second accident with Stuart in the passenger side, he wakes up with two permablack eyes. Now called "2-D" he inspires Murdoc to form a band.

Since the lore has been around since 2000, I have to go album-by-album.
