Vulnerability is something he cannot countenance. “So is… coming to the sea like coming home for you?” A harmless enough question on the surface, but one that belies a destructive riptide beneath, yanking Neuvillette’s presence away from him and jettisoning it out beyond the wharfs and the harbors of the Court. “No,” he manages, the word wheezing painfully from the tired remains of his waterlogged lungs.

Lost to the Tides—A harmless question leads Neuvillette to wonder about the nature of home and where he might find it.
