Enforcement is the answer

Dublin city facing decade of disruption from construction of big โ€“ and long-awaited โ€“ transport projects Work on two bus corridors โ€“ Liffey Valley to the city centre, and Ballymun and Finglas to the city centre โ€“ is due to kick off this year. And thatโ€™s just the start.

A decades worth of disruption is on the way which will exasperate the ongoing congestion issues. The passenger cap removal wonโ€™t help either

This is what happens when you continuously delay vital public transport projects

12.02.2026 22:55 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The full scheme runs down as far as Georgeโ€™s St

Delivery & Service vehicles will still have access before 11; similar to how the other Pedestrian streets work

Dublin City Council Cycle Lockers Pilot Project This Dublin City Council pilot project will see short-term cycle lockers being installed in various locations around the city centre, for public use.

Weโ€™ve been campaigning for more secure bike storage in Dublin and the suburbs for years, so itโ€™s great to finally see a trial

First ones will be on Capel St. & Grafton St. and will be ready for secure bike parking in the Spring

If theyโ€™re talking about illegal eScooters & Bikes, there are laws that simply need to be enforced

If theyโ€™re talking about requiring helmets & hi-vis jackets for bikes & legal eScootersโ€ฆ. It will be vehemently opposed by us, campaigners & bike share companies

Weโ€™ve been heavily campaigning for this over the past year through the Transport Security Forum

Thereโ€™s resistance from the Dept of Transport for a centralised reporting platform, but theyโ€™re coming around to it

Thereโ€™s work being done by the NTA and transport operators to modernize the Mon-Fri Schedules so they meet modern work habits

Itโ€™s challenging to do alongside BusConnects & the driver shortage

Weโ€™ll update people when thereโ€™s news

One of the things weโ€™ve been pushing for is a centralised communication platform for transport - specifically when it comes to emergency situations

Weโ€™ll add this to the poor comms list of requests

The issues are more often linked to the lack of Drivers & Mechanics rather than the route itself but let us know if thereโ€™s a timing mismatch

Nobody expects transport infrastructure to happen overnight but they do expect it to happen.

People want to use public transport, they want to see the delivery of infrastructure and of quality service. Stagnating projects and empty promises are not good enough.

Dublinโ€™s deputy lord mayor says bus lanes not needed at weekends as he doesnโ€™t see congestion but claims bus lanes add to weekend traffic Dublin Cityโ€™s deputy lord mayor has said that the operating hours of 24/7 bus lanes should be reduced because they are not needed on weekends, as he doesnโ€™t see congestion then, but in โ€ฆ

Every now and again this gets recommended by an elected official, itโ€™s obviously quite silly when you dig into it

Private motorists donโ€™t need more space when traffic is light, & when there is congestion buses need the priority

While Government have been celebrating the โ‚ฌ360m annual active travel budget and the opening of an officeโ€ฆ the reality for Dubliners is 3/4 Councils have had their budgets cut

And that doesnโ€™t account for inflation

He has since decided not to pursue an appeal would you believe, and has given up his seat on the Justice Committee

Looks like heโ€™s even more sorry he was caught now but still isnโ€™t taking ownership of his complete disregard for public safety
