It took a while but now they no longer ask about tasks. They find a bug, they fix it or create the tasks if it is more complex. We just sync on priorities and we talk about how we can do better. I think they might even not be aware how tremendously good and productive they are now.

I experienced a team that was scared about this autonomy. They demanded more guidance and wanted more structure. Since they somehow couldn't get it themselves I gave them some ideas, like not too complex tasks at once and some, well, guidelines.
