*I did put SOME vocals in a WIP collab from some years ago but it was very simple, and less like "singing" more like "I was too scared to sing so I read these words into my microphone in a rather monotone voice and then manualy adjusted it, tuned/vocoded it until it sounded passable" LMAO

8 years of making music and I've never even tried* to put my own vocals in any of my songs until Today. So, once again, hello musician friends! do you have any advice for 1. singing in general 2. writing lyrics 3. mixing it/making it sound good (especially when you don't have a really good mic)

I have no idea what genre this would even be I just sat down and made it. i feel like I'm banging pots and pans together and hoping it'll sound good

I usually do pretty small batches (50 or less) for physical releases of my music, so I think this would work well 😊 I'll be looking into it! Thank you!

Dear musician friends, when you get cassette tapes made for your music, what manufacturer(s) do you use? I'm trying to find someone who can do it affordably with lots of options for colors/effects (like, for the first one I have planned, I want it to be pink and sparkly/with glitter)

— so when people come in and they're like, "this is special to me", that's a nice feeling and a nice reminder, because I tend to forget that; that this music is special to people. That it means something outside of my own head!! How crazy is that??

I've listened to the things I've made so many times that they don't feel special anymore. I still appreciate it all, but when you listen to something you've made, repeatedly, you'll start to notice all the little imperfections and it won't feel nearly as special as when you first made it —

It means a lot to me though that people showed up, and talked about it, and loved it. I always forget that people *LIKE* my music. I mean, yea, I know people like it, but seeing numbers go up and up over the years doesn't feel nearly as special as someone directly telling you "I like this!", yknow?

The stream was really exhilarating! Thanks so much to anyone that showed up. I had a great time chatting and everything. I apologize that I'm not the best at speaking, I "um" and "uh" a lot and I struggle to come up with words for things on the spot. But I'll get better at it if I keep doing it!

SPARKLE SIGNAL 5th Anniversary Livestream July 12, 2025 @ 8 PM EST Relistening + QnA & chat

It has been FIVE YEARS since the original release of my album "SPARKLE SIGNAL" on July 10, 2020. Ever since then, things have been such a whirlwind - I feel like the release of this album really marked the start of my actual musical career, when I started to create and capture a musical style that I felt like I could really call my own. Maybe the style I captured in this album isn't my style of choice any longer, but I can't deny the project's importance to both me and, I'm sure, many fans of my music as well (SPARKLE SIGNAL is my most-streamed album). The album follows the story of Gynx Taylor, who, alongside his business partner/on-and-off romantic interest Morgan "Evenghost" Parse, has been experiencing strangely extraordinary dreams that seem to take place in a different world entirely - an unknown plane of existence, seemingly only accessible through dreams. Gynx is only mildly annoyed by these dreams, dismissing it all as a weird coincidence, whereas Morgan seems to be really struggling, for reasons unknown to Gynx. Morgan begs him to dream with her just for one night, and despite his firm belief that this is all in their heads, nothing more, nothing less... he obliges. This album is largely a collection of auditory phantasmagoria - it's a bizarre fantasy that you may forget the moment you wake up, captured sonically and preserved eternally. With my releases under the "Evenghost" alias, I've explored dreams (or nightmares) as this sort of inescapable horror, but "SPARKLE SIGNAL" explores sort of an opposite tone - unpredictable, chaotic silliness! To celebrate this 5 year milestone, I'm hosting a fun little livestream where we relisten to the album and people can ask me questions about it or just chat.
