I've always revealed my identity to every Ruby conference recently because it was the only way to let them know that I am the author of the open-source project that I would be presenting and that I had won an award for it. The anonymization policy has been impractical as far as I am concerned.

Good Ruby conferences would have trustworthy ethical staff that wouldn't need talks to be anonymized to pick the best talks in the first place. Come on! It's not rocket science! Be smarter and better!

That's the contradiction that renders the whole anonymization process not only counterproductive, but also very unintelligent.

But, worse yet, they cast a dark shadow on the unbiased ethics and trust of Ruby conference judges. I mean why hire such people in the first place if you can't trust them to be unbiased and ethical!?!!

The requirement of anonymized submissions to Ruby conferences makes no sense as they prevent well accomplished speakers, the kind that everyone wants to listen to, from revealing all their open-source projects, conference presentations, and Software Engineering awards.

Imagine all the millions of brainless devs that follow him! It's like the blind leading the blind into a pit. Terrifying! You can slice through their slow productivity / weak maintainability like a hot knife through butter. Thankfully, they'd never get hired on my team.

To me, React's creator is completely discredited because of some of the wrong recommendations he gives that reveal his complete lack of Software Engineering sense.

But, the point stands. Use the right tool for the job and avoid over-engineering!

Although Glimmer DSL for Web's code is an order of magnitude simpler than React's code, I am still open-minded about not using it for extremely basic Frontend UI cases. That said, we have enough sophisticated Frontend UI cases in our app to warrant its use in many webpages.

Unlike React's author, who claims you must use React all the time, we intelligently use the right tool for the job. React's author lacks expertise in Software Engineering, so his recommendations lead to massive over-engineering that increases codebase maintainability/productivity cost astronomically

The other day, I helped a new dev on my team build a Frontend feature, and I was OK with him using pure JS instead of Glimmer because the small UI element he needed was so basic that pure JS was good enough.

Practically degrading the entire Ruby community as a whole to dumb usage of dumb libraries like React/Inertia and other incredibly uncreative inside-the-box inferior ideas that are orders of magnitude beneath Ruby alternatives and Ruby potential solutions.

That results in side effects like being 100% OK to hate novel and interesting explorations of Ruby in Frontend Development and other unexplored areas of Software Engineering in Ruby.

According to them, it is 100% OK to be stupid and mean to devs who come up with interesting intelligent novel ideas by either downvoting them to zero without having a rational/patient/kind dialog first to try to figure out if the sharers of the ideas might actually be right about a good use of Ruby.

The awful mods of the Ruby/Rails subreddits have effectively normalized stupidity, meanness, and hate of Ruby in the Ruby community.
