… 2017. That’s when the islands first flooded massively. Significantly changing the beach and Toronto’s awareness of the space. The physical and ecological changes at the beach significantly impacted how people could use it.

… 2015. That’s when things totally changed at Hanlan‘s. It was the first year of the city allowed the Electric Island event to take over the space. Before that, no one gave a shit about Hanlan’s. It was mostly quiet chill. Since then, everyone’s seen the space as a party space on and off the water.

4. Hanlan's is now a "destination" for people who have no interest at all in being nude nor in supporting nudist community; often there are large groups; not naked, celebrating something or playing loud music or otherwise engaged in activities they could easily do elsewhere on the islands.
