Group think doesn’t discriminate among the groups in question. I take your point but suggesting they are more susceptible than any human in any group is just isn’t justified by the evidence. Which is not me saying it isn’t a factor, only that it’s a human one, not ideological.

I learned pretty quickly that not every approach would produce good work from me, but I also learned to appreciate both process and trial and error because of it.

I absolutely get that argument, but it’s also important to learn many approaches in school in particular. There is something to be said about adapting strategies as students’ skills grow but you really can’t teach an entire class with intent flexibility for everyone every time.

It’s also true that coalitions and every fight worth fighting will still have members with other priorities and deficiencies. Booker can fail at one (Palestinian solidarity) with a not fanciful expectation of change and growth, and still be a member of another (democracy).

Any criticism over something that serious is welcome, as long as no one on here is seriously suggesting it invalidates everything else. There are real connections between this indifference and the deterioration of our democracy.

The Democratic Party (as a whole) wouldn’t willing merge with a death cult. So a great realignment on both sides would be in order, or the means for smaller parties to compete and build coalitions.

In each case that party replaced a previous one, meaning functionally it was still a two party race. Nationally the EC makes three way (or greater) competition mathematically impossible. Reforming or replacing the EC is necessary to change that. And grassroots is the only way I see it happening.

I have questions and doubts to be sure, but I refuse to be that dismissive when its underlying philosophy and who it is most interested in helping (the majority of the those living in the U.S.) are at play. I do think that the paralysis Klein describes has hurt people.

A game that stalls early is brittle, so this strategy seems to be speaking to the group as whole, even more so for a larger group. Once those baselines create depth and interest, however, I think that flexibility can help a lot, but only if it works for most people most often.

Commitment absolutely plays in, and when a group can negotiate or just communicate those needs, always the better. It’s usually the province of experienced players or gatherers. This is a great insert for those early games for a new group with many different experiences/obligations.

I do agree, but that doesn’t get us off the hook. Enough of us elected him, twice, and his power in the present is not an abstraction or a curiosity. We don’t get to say our leaders don’t represent us. We atone by fighting directly and together, and against the forces that made him possible.
