exactly, i genuinely dont care about that woman's writing and it's actually impressive that an adaptation of her work was able to be changed for the better into what we have now

the show introduces racial themes and topics that the books dont touch and does them in a surprisingly thoughtful way, to the point that i get why theres ppl who arent looking forward to future seasons bec louis prob wont be as prominent if the show closely follows the books

getting annoyed with the subsection of the iwtv fandom that really thinks you cant be a real fan if you like the show but hate the books

ah yeah agreed on your main point. but it also just highlights what frustrates me about the final act. it took a lot of inspo other things (w/c the devs openly have said they did homages to), but didnt have the same commitment

it’s comparable at a surface level, but tbqh e33’s worldbuilding for the painters has very big holes that gets filled instead by making big emotional gestures that distract you from how things dont really add up

what i can say about e33 is that the discussions created by the fandom for its endings were more interesting than the actual endings themselves
