@mpolymer1.bsky.social @charleslister1.bsky.social what does this situation on the ground mean for Austin Tice?

Really excellent analysis that’s actually based on data, not just vibes!

Just spitballing, but I wonder if this is true in the sense of impact & less for public perception. A place like EDF has more $ & a larger material impact on policy, but perhaps groups like sunrise & climate defiance take up more of the media oxygen & result in more negative public perceptions?

It seems like the only thing going up more than Tesla stock this week is Bluesky users πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

This is ultimately a result of many years of advocacy from NY Renews - I trust them to push hard for a good program. And the policy people working on it!

Great thread on the climate risk + insurance problem. Every time I read one of Dr. Hereid’s threads I learn something new and come away with a better understanding of the issue. Very much enjoying learning about this rapidly developing space - I think there’s room for innovative policy here!

It might be a climate resilience "framework" but lots to like!

Tl;Dr on some of my favorite points
-Unsuck data
-Translate that ish
-Cat model it up
-Wildfire land mgmt
-Critical infrastructure = risk multiplier
-Insurance but don't make it suck

β€˜A contradiction’: U.S. subsidizes β€˜sustainable’ buildings, but leaves them vulnerable to fl... The U.S. Green Building Council's LEED rating system is the gold standard for environmental design. But more than 800 LEED-certified buildings are at risk from climate-related disasters.

"It's a contradiction to call something sustainable if it's also prone to hazards like flood”

My skepticism of first street aside, nice article about how LEED doesn’t account for climate risk, exposing investments in sustainability to flooding & fires
