A character sheet of Ishmael from Limbus Company as a Selkie, showcasing both her seal and human forms and the various appearances her sealskin could shift between. Her regular coat depicts a classic grey sealskin coat with a fur around the neckline. Oh she’s also holding a fish in this particular depiction, which isn’t important to the design but I thought I’d mention it anyway because, fish. “Burrito mode” depicts how the coat is able to naturally seal itself up into something more akin to a sleeping bag. Her seal form depicts how she would look fully transformed into a seal and her “halfling” form, as the name implies, is her halfway through transformation, which basically looks like if she were wearing a seal as a sleeping bag I suppose? I don’t quite know how to describe this either, sorry :,) Extra notes because ALT text lets me write a lot more things than the actual post description: Ish’s selkie coat can basically transform into many different forms of apparel in order for it to remain inconspicuous to outsiders (don’t think too hard about it, this is pure magic on top of limbus logic) Depicted in the pic above are 4 (technically 3, I don’t really count the halfling form) forms selkie ishmael has but she could easily have a lot more as the coat could shift according to her needs. She transforms into her seal form by wearing the coat and willing it to happen. I think selkies are really neat and tie in well with Ishmael’s entire thing about freedom and curiosity, and of course, the entire Ahab thing. For context, Selkies are mythological creatures, half-human half-seal (two distinct forms that they can transform between with their sealskin) and they are unable to return to the sea if they lose this sealskin… or if it’s been stolen from them by someone who doesn’t want them to leave.
