It was Taiho's last basho. Kotozakura's namesake grandpa (and future yokozuna) was also an ōzeki. WakaTaka yokozunas' dad Takanohana was a komusubi. (continues)

About his black mawashi, Ao says his oyakata (former Aminishiki) asked him if he wanted to wear Ami’s mawashi from when he was active and Ao said he couldn’t say no to that chance.
