Affinity groups are a way of organising where a small group of people act autonomously and can be more effective. Many affinity groups can work together in a crowd to achieve even bigger things.

The far-right protest group “Bristol Patriots” have announced an islamophobic march.

They are peddling racist tropes about Muslims and their beliefs.

We will stand together, as Muslim Bristolians and non-Muslims alike.

We will keep their hatred off our streets.

We need to be more ready. We need to continue to build and strengthen our networks, preparedness and response times.

If you are organising an event in Bristol which you think Bristol Patriots might show up at, then please know that there is a community around you who will show up if you need it.

We can only expect that it will happen again. With dwindling numbers at their marches, they seem to be trying new ways to spread their hate around Bristol and are lashing out at those who oppose them.

Luckily, none of the antifascists were injured, but this is a wake up call for all of us.

This is an escalation from Bristol Patriots; they turned up at a previous fundraiser in December at Strange Brew, but this time they arrived masked and attacked people enjoying a pint on a Sunday afternoon.

The fundraiser gig continued and many of those who mobilised ended up celebrating the strength of our community at the gig, which a was roaring success.

There was a great community response as more people from the surrounding area showed up to protect the pub.

Eventually, they were hugely outnumbered and forced out the area by police for their own protection.

On the attempted far right attack on an East Bristol pub.

Yesterday, 25-30 members of Bristol Patriots attacked our fundraiser at the Red Lion in Easton.

They arrived together in vans and cars and tried to force their way into the pub. Due to the quick thinking of people there, they were shut out.

We need to act in solidarity with everyone who has been oppressed until all of us are free.

So, we’ll see you out there tomorrow. Wear black, bring a friend and hopefully make some more friends.

But in other circumstances, that also means supporting racialized people, queer and trans people, women, unhoused and working class people, disabled people, s*x workers, ex-prisoners and many more in whatever forms those lived experiences take.

We are all Bristol Antifascists 🏴🚩

That means stopping fascism everywhere it appears and every form it takes.

Tomorrow, that means supporting migrants stuck in temporary accommodations getting directly targeted.

To them, it is more than just Bristol or attacking this specific location housing migrants, its building an international fascist movement.

These two groups latching onto this demo is not a coincidence. Fascism and authoritarianism is growing, and these groups want to destroy the solidarity and strength we showed last summer.

Yesterday, Bristol Patriots announced that both Britain First and UKIP will be at tomorrow’s demo with Nick Tenconi as a speaker.

Tomorrow is a fight for the future!
